Mokurynn's Egg is a mysterious egg that used to be in Moonshade's possession, before eventually ending up in the hands of Heathcliff "Cliff" Sinclair.
Appearance[]
The egg appears to be about the size of an ostrich egg. It has like a light-green color with dark zig-zag stripes. According to Rhea Snaketail it looks like a Jakkai egg[1]. It was stored inside a glass case with a yellow lock in the shape of the Earth Element Symbol, resting on a blue pillow.
History[]
Past[]
Most of the egg's history is unknown. It was possibly laid by Mokurynn, given how Moonshade refers to it, and ended up in Moonshade's possession for some time. However, Moonshade got "careless" and lost it, at which point it ended up in the possession of the owner of Trader Moe's.
Forgive Me[]
The Weyville Incident[]
While in Weyville, Cliff and Miranda went to Trader Moe's in order to purchase the egg. Several days after the incident involving Denevol, Cliff showed the egg to Rhea and her friends, saying that he specifically came to Weyville for it despite not knowing much about it. Rhea recognized it as possibly being a Jakkai egg and tried to touch it, only for Cliff to say not to as she might break it. Buwaro would later have a near accident with the egg that same evening.
Moonshade would get Azurai to interrogate the trader, which ended in the latter's death without he could learn whom he gave the egg to. While regrettable, Moonshade decided to not "waste anymore time" looking for it. He assured Tsavo that since the bloodline ended with him, he was not worried about the egg, and moved on.
Journey to St. Curtis[]
It's starting to show signs of life.
For most of the journey, the egg has remained on the lower shelf of the Sinclair Wagon, showing no sign of activity until one evening when Rhea could hear someone crying. Cliff said it might have been owls as Rhea tried going back to sleep. Cliff shifted his eyes onto the egg as it started to jiggle a bit; indicating that at some point the egg would hatch.
Oops! All Demons[]
Since the start of the invasion, the egg remained inside the wagon, without any hint of life since that one night. As Miranda smashed her family wagon over an attacking Demon, its survival was unknown at the time.
Through Fang and Flame[]
When Rhea reconnected to Moku's bloodline through the yellow Rainbow Reverie potion, a mysterious voice instructed her to seek it out, hinting at its survival.[2] It was later confirmed by Moonshade that the egg was emitting a large amount of "Guardian magic", and that it was headed "south".[3] Moonshade decided to part from Iratu's squad as to seek it out, escorted by Hakka's team.
Atop the Tree of Peace[]
When Rhea found the Sinclairs' abandoned carriage, the egg was missing; Rhea speculated that the Sinclairs took it with them, despite only taking what they deemed necessary.[4]
Powers and Abilities[]
Unusual Magic Power: The egg seems to be emitting a strong amount of Guardian magic power, that Moonshade distinctly recognized among others. This would make the child within a very powerful magic user, even before being hatched.
Enhanced Durability: Despite everything that has happened to it during the time of the invasion of St. Curtis, from the chaos caused by Demons attacking the Sinclair family and Miranda smashing the wagon onto some while the egg was still inside, it has somehow managed to survive whilst being inside a glass case; though the exact reason has yet to be revealed.
Trivia[]
- Given Moonshade's initial lack of care over the egg combined with the assurance that his relatives were dead, he could have used it as leverage to blackmail Mokurynn into murdering Rhea.
- However, as Jakkai eggs are laid in winter and Rhea died before she could grow a winter coat, Mokurynn's egg was most likely laid after Rhea's death. (Assuming it abides by the same rules as regular Jakkai eggs.)
