Heaven's Army is an unnamed military force that serves Mother Gaia and protects Heaven and its people, as well as the people of Medius from the forces of Hell.

Creation

When Father Syndel declared war on Heaven, Mother Gaia "had no choice but to fight back". Possibly at her initiative, the First Heroes were the first Angels to have picked up wing and weapon to defend against Syndel, becoming the first Warrior Angels and marking the beginning of Heaven's Army. The two sides are common enemies and still fight to this day.

Membership

In contrast to Hell's Army, Heaven's Army is comprised entirely of Angels, though during the war several Guardians did side with them, such as Siara the Lynx and Melli the Fire Bee.

Most members of Heaven's Army belong to the Warrior caste of Angels, whose sole purpose is to slay Demons. They are trained from a young age in weapons combat, attack spells and magic healing. However, in times of need, the army has been known to draft Caretaker Angels to fill in the ranks, such as Darius Elexion. Angels born as Caretakers can also become Warriors upon coming of age. The army is led by Seraphs, which are Warrior Angels that possess Moon emblems and wear distinctive armor.

The descendants of the First Heroes are known as the four great Warrior Clans. There is one for each natural element of magic: Suizahn, Sanjulo, Denevol and Verammi. They are renowned Warriors and form the elite class of Heaven. Seraphim from the great clans especially commend respect among their peers; the strongest Seraph of each clan's bloodline can ascend to the title of Throne, which is the highest Angel rank.

Warrior Angels fight using weapons protected with Holy magic. They are typically passed down Warrior families, but drafted Caretaker Angels may still acquire one.

History

At an unknown point of history, Father Syndel aided a military general in the conquest of his own kingdom; when victims of the battles during the evil general’s invasion of a second kingdom claimed that they saw Demons, Gaia sprung into action and sent her Angels to fight. This became known as the Great War, where Hell's Army fought against the army of Heaven on Medius. While it is ultimately believed by Medians that the forces of good had won and the war ended, the army of Hell wasn't vanquished and the war was far from over.

300 years ago, while Median involvement had ended, Heaven's forces would go through Medius as to fight in Hell, the same way Hell's forces would come fight into Heaven. Kieri's own parents were known to have fought in the war.

15 years ago, Angels entered Hell and committed an assault on the Ring of the Slightly Damned, which was used as a Demon nursery: many Demon children perished, causing the near-loss of an entire generation. Some time after, Death tried to put an end to the Great War by barring Demons and Angels from entering each other's realms. However, or maybe in spite of this, Warrior Angels such as Kieri and Kazai Suizahn would still be trained as to defend Heaven from a potential Demon invasion.
