Arla Suizahn is a Seraph Angel, and the current matriarch of the Suizahn Clan, the great Warrior Clan of Water; she is the wife of Khalav Suizahn, and mother of Kieri and Kazai.

Appearance

Arla's face resembles Kieri's, with the difference that she is frowning most of the time. Her hair is entirely dyed blue except for the bangs which are white, in the fashion of female Angels; hers is swept to the sides at the back, and while she has a similar forelock to Kieri's, she lacks the twins' two-pronged cowlick. She has blue eyes and pointed ears. She wears the traditional Water Angel uniform, consisting of a blue tabard with the Water symbol on it, a white shirt with blue sleeve patterns and blue pants and shoes. She also has the Water element symbol tattooed on her left arm. As a Seraph, she wears a gray armor with blue-rimmed shoulder pads and a large chestplate, with her three Angel Emblems displayed along the collar line. She carries her swords at her waist.

Personality

Arla is very aggressive, as a result from her upbringing. Born from a different clan, her family was slaughtered by Demons which caused her to grow an immense hatred toward them.

Her aggressive nature causes her to shout often and be physically violent, even on her own children. At times, she appears to intimidate even her husband, and be the one really in charge of the Suizahn family.

She appears to dismiss many of her daughter's issues; even when Kieri was young, Arla couldn't believe she was "really" sick, as Kazai was fine. She also tells her to "get over" her issues, and berates her for her failures. She resents weakness, be it her own or her daughter's, as she claims weak Angels cannot protect anyone.

She holds strong traditionalist beliefs, as even though the Great War is over, she pushes her children to train as Warriors. She puts value in the Suizahn name as honorable Demon-slayers, as fighting is "in their blood".

History

Past

Arla was originally a Caretaker Angel; however, her family was massacred during the Great War, leaving her as the only survivor. This gave her an immense hatred of Demons and pushed her to become a Warrior Angel. She managed to climb the ranks and become a Seraph, even though it was difficult. She would later marry into the Suizahn Clan and have two children.

Much of what is known of Arla and her time with her children would come from Kieri's memories of Heaven. They have shown her to praise Kazai for his efforts in training, while scolding Kieri for not doing the same. She was known to push Kieri to train until she hurt herself, to the point of hitting and slapping her, even though she would heal those injuries afterwards. Many times, she dismissed her concerns and told her to "get over" her problems, claiming that Demons would not show her mercy.

One day, after scolding Kieri on her combat performance, Arla reacted badly to Kieri's suggestion of learning Lingo and attacked her at swordpoint, claiming it would be her exam to earn a Star Emblem. She beat Kieri to near-death but ultimately spared her life; while she eventually let her go to a Lingo class, she taunted her and told her to better keep showing up to training.

Powers and Abilities

Overall Abilities: While having been born into a clan of Caretaker Angels, Arla was able to work her way up among the ranks of Warrior Angels and become a Seraph by her own right. As a Seraph, she is presumably very strong and influential to those of lower rank.

Holy Magic: A magic affinity shared by all Angels. As a Warrior, Arla is supposedly trained to use Holy Magic offensively.

• Healing: Arla sometimes healed Kieri right after hitting her.

Expert Dual-Blade Specialist: It can be presumed that Arla is highly skilled in dual-wielding weapons, given her position in Heaven's Army. She killed her first Demon at about 15 years old.

Equipment

Holy Water Katanas: Arla possesses and uses them in combat. The blades resemble how traditional katanas would look, with a blue guard in the shape of the Water element, with a light-colored handle and blue tip. They have sheaths decorated with water droplets.

Sun Emblem: By wearing this pendant, wings can appear on her back and allow her to fly.

• Flight: The white-feathered wings granted from the pendant are large enough to let her fly and carry one person. They can be withdrawn or revealed at will.

Star Emblem: By wearing this pendant, her magic power increases, and her concentration improves.

Moon Emblem: By wearing this pendant, her overall strength and durability increase beyond the normal capabilities of an average Angel.

• Arla's full face was first seen in outside artwork, along with Khalav's; however, while his name was shown on a name tag, hers was kept obscured.
